Recorded in Coventry Cathedral in July 2014, this, the Choir’s second recording of the music of Herbert Howells, was also nominated for a Gramophone Award in 2016, the first recording Howells Requiem winning that award in 2012.
Interviewed by Limelight Magazine, Stephen Layton, Director of Music at Trinity College spoke about his first experience of Howells’ music as a chorister:
"…Howells just sort of blew you away with these great settings with the organ playing. Your voice just flew, because he loved writing for the top lines of the boys’ voices. It was kind of love at first sight."

“A stunning recording in so many respects... shaped by Layton and the Trinity choir with true, intimate poetry.”
“This selection has all of the polish and charisma to be expected from one of Britain's most accomplished choral conductors, Stephen Layton, and his excellent Cambridge Choir”.
“I’ve long thought that the Trinity College Choir is one of the very finest collegiate choirs in Britain and this disc offers further proof of their excellence. Blend, tuning, diction and discipline are well-nigh faultless and the sheer sound of these young voices gives great pleasure.”
