Andrew Dean started his musical life as a chorister at Westminster Cathe- dral where his first music teacher was the distinguished organist  Nicolas Kynaston. He read music at Edin- burgh University where his teachers included Kenneth Leighton, Peter Williams and Philip Sawyer.

Andrew has spent the past thirty years in the world of music education, holding the post of Director of Music at The Manchester Grammar School for much of this time. Alongside this he has continued to perform regularly as organist, accompanist and conductor, and several of his past organ pupils now occupy positions as cathedral organists. From 2002 to 2007 Andrew was Director of Choral Music at Leeds Metropolitan University. He is now on the staff of Chetham’s School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music Junior Department.
