This album charts the Anglican anthem for choir and organ across two centuries, from its impassioned revival by Samuel Sebastian Wesley, through the imperial grandeurs of Edward Elgar and Herbert Howells, to vital contemporary works by Paul Spicer, James MacMillan and David Bednall. Recorded in the magnificent acoustic of Ely Cathedral, this is also the first Trinity College Choir recording on Hyperion Records to be made available on streaming services on release.
