Conducted by David Trippett (Trinity 2000-01) and featuring solo soprano Paula Downes (Trinity 1998-2001), this is the premiere recording of ‘A St Luke Passion’ by Andrew Downes (1950-1923), commissioned in 1993 by the Wolverhampton Civic Choir as a concert counterpart to Benjamin Britten’s ‘St Nicolas’. The album is the first in a trilogy celebrating Downes’s larger-scale choral works, and also includes several a cappella works.
