Gombert: Sacred Music

Released May 1997

“This second instalment of Gombert from Henry’s Eight is cause for celebration. Gombert has found worthy champions” (Gramophone)

This recording is the centrepiece of three Hyperion Records albums released by Henry’s Eight, a professional male voice octet formed at Trinity in the 1990s and named in honour of the College’s founder King Henry VIII. Dedicated from the outset to the neglected wealth of sixteenth- and seventeenth-century men’s vocal music, the group expanded its membership beyond Trinity and enjoyed considerable success on record, live broadcast, in concert and on tour to Germany, the USA and South Africa.
