Briggs - Hail, gladdening light
Recorded 11-13 July 2022. Released January 2024
A sequel to the Choir’s acclaimed 2010 release of David Briggs’s > Mass for Notre Dame, this recording sees the composer and Stephen Layton revelling in the acoustic possibilities of the vast Église Saint-Eustache in Paris. As with the first album, Briggs is also present as performer, interspersing the choral items with a sequence of improvisations on Saint-Eustache’s renowned van den Heuvel organ.
