GRAMOPHONE AWARDS 2015 – NOMINEE
“Performances of unsurpassed excellence … the emotional intensity of the Trinity College singers places their performances in a class of their own … it may well turn out to be one of the finest choral recordings I’ll hear this year.” – Gramophone Magazine
Kenneth Leighton’s own prodigious keyboard skills ensure that the organ is an equal and vibrant partner in his choral works, exemplified on this album by the “brilliant, motorized semiquavers” in the ‘Magdalen Service’ and the “dazzlingly virtuosic” ‘Ite Missa Est’. Tenor soloist Andrew Kennedy joins the ensemble for a radiant performance of the 1961 cantata ‘Crucifixus pro Nobis’.
