Then came the Christmas Oratorio, in a vigorous, meticulous realisation by The Choir of Trinity College Cambridge (singing from memory!), the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and such outstanding soloists as the tenor James Gilchrist and the countertenor Iestyn Davies, under Stephen Layton at St John’s Smith Square.
